If you have a problem, check to see if what you need to know is here before you call. If not then give us a ring and we will try to help as best we can.

Q:I have found a stray cat, what should I do?

There are lots of different things that need to be done

 - Ask your neighbours if they know of the cat
 - Try to keep it coming to you so you can gain its trust.
 - If you can touch it, check to see if the cat has a collar.
 - Take the cat the a local vet. They will scan it to see if it has a         microchip

Q: I have lost my cat, what should I do?

- Download our lost cat poster template here
 - You will need to work hard but it will pay off; put the posters up all around your area, in as many veterinary surgeries as you can and in your local supermarkets
 - Contact vet surgeries directly by phone and ask them to make a note of your cat should it come in.

Q: I have found a mother cat and kittens, what should I do?

 - If the kittens are very small DO NOT TOUCH THEM. This will usually cause the mother to abandon them. If they are in a very unsafe place then you will not have a choice. Try to pick the kittens up with something that is close by, instead of making contact with your own fingers.
 - Contact us or another shelter and in the meantime keep them somewhere safe and quiet and don't disturb them unnecessarily. Give the mum plenty of food and water. Do not give her cow's milk.

Q: I have found a litter of kittens without their mum, what should I do?

- Are you sure the mother has not just gone off to get something to eat? Wait a little bit and see if she returns.
 - If the kittens are walking about then they are likely to be already wary of people. You might find it hard to catch them. Keep an eye on them and offer food. Call us and we will try to trap them.
 - If they are very tiny and there is no sign of the mum then they will need to be kept warm. Wrap a hot water bottle in a towel and place them on that, in a box so they can't wriggle away. You will have to handle them but try to minimise your contact.
 - They are best taken to a vet because they will need to be fed a special formula every couple of hours. Do not offer them anything until you have spoken to a vet. Do not give them cows milk.

Q: My cat needs neutering, help!

 - If you are unable to afford the cost of neutering we can help you. We run an assisted neutering scheme so the cost of the operation is reduced. We expect you to make a contribution but will help you as much as we can.

Q: I have too many cats and can't cope, can anyone help me?

 - We will work with you to see if we can rehome any of your cats and we will neuter/spay all cats in the house. You will need to cooperate with us and be prepared to contribute towards costs. We want to help you, and we will do all we can.

Q: I am about to lose my home, what will happen to my cat if I can't care for it?

 - Firstly, don't even think about abandoning it. It is a criminal offence to abandon a pet and you will be fined.
 - Call us and we will try to work out how best to help you and your cat.

Q: I think I have feral cats living in my street, what should I do?

 - The very best thing you can do for yourself, your neighbours and the cats is to give them a regular supply of food. This will stop scavenging and help keep them healthier so there is less disease.
 - Call us and we will trap and neuter them. We will return the wild ones but will do our best to tame the less wild ones.
 - You will be expected to make some form of donation. We are a charity and our funds are limited. We will happily help you but we just ask you recognise what we are doing.
